MICHAEL BRUNO, ANDREW LEE, ALEXANDER NOYES and JASON ROSEN deliver a unique sound that fuses Rock and R&B. Honor Society released their debut album Fashionably Late in September 2009 featuring youthful anthems like “Sing For You,” the wildly popular song, “See U In The Dark” and the dancefloor jam, “Here Comes Trouble.”

LARRY FITZGERALD of the Arizona Cardinals was last year’s Pro Bowl MVP. Fitzgerald caught two touchdown passes, including the go-ahead score with 4:03 remaining, as the NFC rallied to defeat the AFC, 30-21, in front of a sold-out crowd at Aloha Stadium. The Vikings’ ADRIAN PETERSON led the NFC in rushing with 48 yards on 8 carries and one touchdown. ELI (New York Giants) and PEYTON MANNING (Indianapolis Colts) were the first brother quarterbacks to play against each other in the Pro Bowl. Eli completed 8 of 14 passes for 111 yards and one touchdown. Peyton was 12 of 17 for 151 yards and one touchdown.
The AFC and NFC squads are each comprised of 42 players with 21 offensive and 17 defensive players plus four specialists. A 43rd “need” player will be chosen by the head coach and must be a cornerback, defensive end, linebacker or long snapper. The coaching staffs of the losing teams in the AFC and NFC Divisional playoffs with the best regular season record will serve as the coaching staffs of the AFC and NFC teams.

Honor Society’s Roots in Rock, Soul

Honor Society keyboardist/guitarist Jason Rosen says his band’s music sounds deceptively simple. That belies the fact that two founding members — Rosen and lead vocalist/guitarist Michael Bruno — graduated from Boston’s Berklee School of Music and the New York University School of Music, respectively.

Also, bassist Andrew Lee is an alumnus of Hartford School of Music.

“There’s a lot that gets thrown at you,” Rosen said during a telephone interview from Philadelphia. “There’s a lot of theory and a lot of performance stuff and music technology stuff.”

Rosen said there was so much that all the learning didn’t really set in until after he graduated.

“We draw upon those educational practices,” he said. “They are like tools in our toolbox.”

Music has always been an important part of Rosen’s life. When he was young, his parents introduced him to the Beatles, Motown and ’50s and ’60s doo wop groups.

“Later on I definitely got into Stevie Wonder because of the keyboards and his use of synths. And then I got into a lot of prog-rock like Yes. And in the ’80s there was definitely Michael Jackson and then Prince.”

Rosen’s first instrument was piano.

“My family had gotten a piano from my grandma,” he said. “Later on I started playing guitar and the drums.

“I think it’s cool to be able to play different instruments. And having an understanding of multiple instruments helps with the arrangements and stuff. (more…)

Jason Rosen, keyboardist and guitarist and backup singer, had a few minutes between sound check and a show to speak with the Pocono Record about how they came to be, their first album, soundtracks and life on the road.

Pocono Record: Tell me about how you got together.

Rosen: Me and Michael lead singer) grew up together since junior high. We met Andrew bass, backing vocals) through a friend of ours. It was just the three of us for two years. Then we met Alexander drums) through another friend. We just all clicked, and that made us a unit.

PR: How did you come up with the name Honor Society?

JR: It was just one of the names that came about, and it worked. Our fans are in the honor society with us. We like to include our fans.

PR: How did the tour with the Jonas Brothers come about?

JR: We signed on to their management. The tour was a dream come true. Alex is a friend of Kevin Jonas). The way we started working with them was that we recorded demos last spring. The recording made its way to their hands and we hit it off right off the bat. We struck up a friendship that went into a business partnership.

PR: Where are you from?

JR: We are from Rockland County and Upstate New York. Alex’s parents lived in Midland Park, N.J., and that’s were we started rehearsing. (more…)
