Honor Society (& Their Dog!) Find A Fan In ASPCA
November 17, 2009, 5:50 am

When hitting the road for their Full Moon Crazy tour this fall, the guys of the pop group Honor Society — the first band signed to the Jonas Brothers’ new record label — knew they could count on one loyal roadie: their dog Willis. The rescued miniature poodle is a part of the band’s family — and a tough critic. “She hears a lot of Honor Society songs before anyone else,” bass guitarist Andrew Lee tells PEOPLEPets.com. “If we see her tail wagging, we know it’s a good lyric.”

The pup, who’s even appeared in some of the guy’s goofy YouTube clips, has earned a following of her own. “Our fans love her! She gets more gifts at our meet-and-greets than we do,” says vocalist Michael Bruno. “She’s received dog Snuggies, sweaters and even a Wonder Woman costume.”

Taking to Twitter to tell their fans about their pooch — plus other products and info — comes naturally for the group. So when they were approached by Ubisoft about teaming up with the ASPCA to promote November’s Sharing and Caring pet-care initiative, it seemed like a natural fit. “Our relationship with our fans is like a friendship — it’s like, ‘Hey guys, check this out’,” Bruno says. “So it’s easy to share our thoughts with them through Twitter and MySpace, and hear what they have to say in return.” (more…)

New Photos: Honor Society Performs Live At MTV

Honor Society

Last time I caught up with Honor Society was in a basement bathroom. Which actually wasn’t as gross as it sounds. Before that, they taught me the Honor Roll (which I still kind of suck at). But yesterday, Honor Society dropped by MTV for a private performance in the MTV music lounge. A handful of staffers were treated to all-acoustic versions of “Over You,” ”Two Rebels,” and “See U In The Dark” (and great leather jackets!) Oh, and Andrew had a cool pear shaker! I want one! After that, Honor Society jetted off to their sold-out New York show, where they also had their fans bring canned food. (Such a good idea. You listening, “other bands”?)

Check out these exclusive photos of Jason Rosen, Alexander Noyes, Michael Bruno, and Andrew Lee warming up before their private performance at MTV, and watch their brand-new video, “Over You” (again).

Honor Society Goes From Jonas Openers to Hot Headliners
November 10, 2009, 11:00 pm

New York-based pop-rock band Honor Society spent last summer opening for the Jonas Brothers’ hugely successful North American tour while simultaneously playing their own tour at smaller venues in the same cities.

Then in September, the band released its debut album, “Fashionably Late,” which shot up to No. 8 on the iTunes album chart and No. 2 on its Pop Album chart, and put four of its 12 songs in the iTune Top 100.

But it was at the end of September that “extended friends” told them they finally had made it: When they appeared on NBC-TV’s “Today” show.

“That was really big for us. We’re from New York, so it being filmed in New York, we had all of our friends and family like, ‘I can’t believe it!’” Honor Society drummer Alexander Noyes says, laughing, in a recent telephone call.

“They were like, ‘OK, now I’m impressed,’ ” Noyes says, laughing again. “And it’s like, ‘Oh thanks,’ we’ve done like all this other stuff and now you’re impressed.”

Those friends can continue to be impressed. Not only did the band subsequently make an appearance on the other New York-filmed morning show, CBS-TV’s “Early Show,” but today, AOL Music premieres the video for “Over You,” the second single from “Fashionably Late.”

Pollstar Magazine last week named the band its Hot Star, and in December, they’ll appear in the movie “Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.”

And squeezed in before all that, the band is headlining another tour, which stops at The Note in West Chester on Friday. They last were in the area in October, when they headlined the Rock The Fall festival at Blue Mountain Ski Area near Palmerton.

“It’s basically all in support of the record,” Noyes says. “We’re trying to bring it back to the fans. Our [Jonas] tour was such an incredible experience, and now we’re back out on tour and we just really want to see how our fans across the country like the record. We want to hang out and talk with them and see what’s going on with them.”

The band (and members stress they are a band; they play their own instruments – and well, if the Jonas and Rock The Fall shows were any indication) is deservedly proud of “Fashionably Late.” Honor Society describes it as a rock band playing pop music, and several of its tracks have the larger production that make the songs sound ready-made for arenas. Holla Back Crew!

We officially brought the FL tour to the FL! Hahaha. Silverado was burning down the Florida highways! It seemed like the perfect time to catch you guys up on what has been happening with everything HS…

First up: Our brand new video for “Over You” premiered on AOL Music TODAY…Check it out!! And tomorrow it’ll be featured on the MySpace homepage! We are really proud of it and so happy to finally share it with all of you. Thank you for the support!

The tour has been incredible since we last left you… there was a crazy show in Salt Lake City at the Murray Theater (we included a picture for your viewing pleasures) where we partied with all of you and our new friend David Archuleta, who came out to see the show. The party continued on to Denver, CO where things were hoootttt inside the Bluebird Theater although it was freezing outside! Thank you to every one that braved the bitter cold and a big shout out to everyone from Erie High School that came. Next was Kansas, where we did a radio show with KRZZ 96.3 in a cornfield!!! A cornfield!!! It was awesome… seriously check out the pictures, they had a haunted maze and everything! Thanks to everyone that came out that show. We continued on our tour of Kansas with a stop in Lawrence, where we visited the KU campus and the Delta Gamma sorority house for a quick acoustic performance. Thank to all the DG girls! Our next stop was St. Louis, where our fans waited outside in the pouring rain! THANK YOU guys! It was one of the hottest shows of the tour. The HS Crew was out in full force!

The tour took a little break after the St. Louis show and we flew out to New York City to play the CBS Early Show!

The day started at 4AM when we woke up for lobby call. We were greeted at the studio by a couple of fans dressed up as us for Halloween! Hahaha! It was like seeing myself in a mirror! We got in a sound checked for about an hour before going into hair and make-up… which was an adventure. We decided that for Halloween, we wanted to do something special… so we decided to get a little ‘Twilight’ on it… I am talking Robbie Pattinson-style. Hahaha. Full out pale perfection, with some creepy red blood shot eyes and big hair! The show looked and sounded great and we were able to play ‘Over You’ AND ‘See U In The Dark’ on air. It was one of the coolest things we have ever got the chance to do! If you haven’t seen the Early Show performance, you should totally check it out on youtube

After touching down in Detroit after our CBS Early Show excursion, we rolled up to Clutch Cargo’s to a SOLD OUT show in Pontiac! It was pretty much the most unbelievable way to kick off the second half of the tour! Thank you to everyone that came out to that show and gave the Fashionably Late tour its seventh sold out show… we are so humbled to have such incredible fans all across the country… you are incredible!

From Detroit we continued south to Cleveland, OH where we started the day bright and early on the Fox 8 morning show… Kickin’ It With Kenny and the rest of the Fox 8 anchors! After tv we rolled over to a special acoustic performance for USA Pears and the ‘A Child Again’ program, where we got to meet some unbelievable kids and their families. From there we headed to 96.5 KISS FM for another intimate acoustic performance in the studio with about a dozen radio winners… thank you to everyone over at KISS 96.5 for putting all of that together. It was a great warm-up for our show at the Cleveland House of Blues… which if you were wondering, was on-fire… like literally actually on-fire… like hooottttt!

Needless to say, Detroit Rock City and Cleveland, home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where ready to party!

The tour rolled on to Cincinnati where we got invited to the studio with Jordan over at KISS 107! Every time we go to Cincinnati, the crew over at KISS 107 is always so cool. Big shout out to Jordan and Tim for having us up to the studio and then coming out to 20th Century to catch the show! Cincinnati did not disappoint! It was ANOTHER incredible show and we are so happy that we got to share it with all of you!

We will catch up with all of you very soon… Charlotte we will see you tonight!

A whole lot of love for you all.

Your Gents,
Honor Society
