Today, in the entertainment industry teenagers rule the world: in movies, television, and music. Mainly in music, artists such as Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, and Taylor Swift, are some of the most popular.
Recently, I discovered a new band that is nowhere near their teenage years who sound like they have been doing this for years. Honor Society: made up of Jason Rosen, Michael Bruno, Andrew Lee, and Alexander Noyes, had an interesting discovery.
A few years back, another popular band, the Jonas Brothers, was just starting, and they had a drummer by the name of Alexander Noyes (sound familiar?). Noyes left the band, and started his own with old roommates back from New Jersey and New York. A few years later, Honor Society’s EP, a sample of their music, was passed along to Hollywood Records and caught the attention of none other than the Jonas Brothers, Noyes’ former employers.
At this point, you are probably thinking, “Oh no, not another teeny bopper band who will soon take over the music industry.” That is not the case here, surprisingly; Honor Society’s ages are nowhere near the teenage years. The youngest member, Alexander (Alex) Noyes is 24; the next youngest, Andrew Lee is 29; Michael Bruno, 30; and Jason, 31!
Honor Society defines themselves as Gentlemen, and I can honestly say this, that is true. I had the pleasure of meeting them at an acoustic show they did at the end of August, when they opened for the Jonas Brothers on their World Tour. Almost 400 people showed up to the acoustic show, which was announced only hours before on the band’s MySpace, and at the end of their performance, they walked through the crowd and met with every single fan who showed up and took pictures with them, myself included.
At this time you are probably wondering, why am I writing this blog now? Why not earlier? Why not later? Yesterday (September 15, 2009), Honor Society released their debut full length album titled “Fashionably Late”. I highly recommend buying and listening to it and not just because I am an avid fan, but because I really truly believe you will be impressed by their sound and their voice maturity and you will soon see yourself becoming a fan as well.
